Fairmont Chateau Whistler is located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain in WhistlerBlackcomb, British Columbia. To clarify, “Whistler” as most commonly known, is comprised of two massive interconnected ski resorts… Whistler and Blackcomb. Together, WhistlerBlackcomb offers just over 8000 ski-able acres with all levels of terrain.
GETTING TO WHISTLER/BLACKCOMB
WhistlerBlackcomb is a two hours drive north of Vancouver International Airport, or four and a half hours from Seattle. Coach buses regularly run from the airport in Vancouver to the resort. Whether you decide to drive from Seattle or Vancouver, the scenery along the Sea to Sky Highway will take your breath away! Just remember… bring your passports!
The hotel is conveniently situated at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, just steps from a lift, ski school, shops and restaurants. A more convenient location is could not be! This full service resort is elegant yet super family-friendly. While the larger shopping/dining area is located at Whistler Village (10-15 minute walk or quick shuttle ride), there are still some cute shops and restaurants in this area too.
The hotel offers 550 tastefully decorated rooms ranging from standard one bedrooms to two bedroom suites. Mountain View rooms are they way to go if you can swing it. Connecting rooms are also available upon request, as are cribs and roll away beds. We stayed in a Deluxe Valley View Room and borrowed a crib, and we had a decent amount of space. Although, when there is so much ski paraphernalia involved, is there ever enough space?!

Portobello Market & Fresh Bakery
Portobello’s hip and lively setting serves up a fresh and fabulous deli-style menu selection.
Home to fondue and rich, alpine cuisine, The Chalet is Fairmont’s unqiue winter dining destination. Super cozy atmosphere, and sometime live entertainment. (Mid-December to mid-March)
Clubhouse Terrace (Seasonal)
A memorable day of golf deserves an equally endearing finale. Enjoy relaxed dining on the outdoor patio. (May to October)
The Mallard Lounge and Terrace (Our favorite place to hang)
With its sensational view of Whistler Mountain, the Mallard Lounge features an array of signature drinks, live entertainment (seasonally) and outdoor fire-lit terrace. Super casual, lots of families relaxing and hanging out here after a day on the slopes. This is such a great place to gather, that it does get very crowded. Families are also required to sit a certain distance away from the bar. There is also a separate smoking room for those who would like to enjoy a Cuban cigar with their cocktail… or just hide out from the kids for a few!!
IMPORTANT NOTE: At ALL Fairmont hotels, kids aged 5 and under eat free off the children’s menu while kids aged 6-12 eat for half price off the regular menu. This is available in The Wildflower and The Chalet only.
SPA and Fitness
Vida Spa is located just of the hotel’s lobby and offers a full suite of amenities to soothe those apres ski aches and pains. The Spa is wonderful, the estheticians do push products but you can easily get away with not purchasing. I also found it a little bothersome that the esthetician left the room while my mask was on during a facial, but it wouldn’t deter me from going again.
The fitness center is well equipped with modern and up to date workout equipment. It also has a lap pool (with underwater music), complimentary yoga classes, saunas and other great amenities such as towel service and lockers. If you still have it in you after a long day on the slopes, than it’s worth visiting!
At the pool area you will find a nice size indoor/outdoor swimming pool, three whirlpools and no shortage of kids playing with pool toys borrowed from the hotel.
